Digital menu with allergens for restaurants

In Menuté you mark, for each dish, which of the 14 EU allergens it contains and which may be present as traces. Guests open the menu on their phone, pick the allergens they avoid, and the dishes that contain them are hidden or flagged with a warning. A dish you have not filled in never passes as safe: it stays on the menu labelled "Allergens not specified".

How it works

  1. 1

You fill in allergens in the menu editor

Pick what the dish contains from the list of 14, and what it may contain as traces. If it has none of them, tick that separately.

  2. 2

    The guest picks their allergens

From the menu opened by QR code, the guest selects what to avoid and chooses whether dishes with those allergens are hidden or only flagged. The choice stays saved in their browser.

  3. 3

The menu says what it does not know

Dishes you have not filled in stay visible, with a note asking the guest to check with the staff. A notice above the menu says how many there are, so nobody assumes the filter checked them.

What's included

  • The 14 major EU allergens, named in Romanian and English
  • For each dish: what it contains and what it may contain as traces
  • A separate "contains none" tick, so a dish nobody filled in does not look safe
  • A guest filter with two modes: hide the dishes or show them with a warning
  • An "Allergens not specified" label on the dishes you have not filled in
  • A notice above the menu counting the dishes the filter cannot check
  • No app: it all happens in the phone's browser

Frequently asked questions

What are the 14 allergens?
Gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk (lactose), tree nuts, celery, mustard, sesame, sulphites, lupin and molluscs. They are the major allergens EU law requires restaurants to declare, and Menuté lists all of them.
What does a guest see on a dish I have not filled in?
The label "Allergens not specified". With the filter on, the dish stays visible and flagged, with a note asking them to check with the staff. Menuté never treats a dish nobody filled in as allergen-free.
How do I show that a dish contains no allergens?
Tick that it contains none of the 14. Guests then see "Contains none of the 14 major allergens". The tick cannot be saved if you have also listed allergens on the same dish.
Does the filter read allergens from the dish description?
No. Only allergens picked from the list of 14 count. Free text such as "gluten-free" can be misread either way, so the filter does not guess from it.
Which plan includes the allergen filter?
It is part of the digital menu, so you have it from Starter, at €19 per month. Pro, at €39 per month, adds table ordering and a kitchen display.
Does Menuté take responsibility for the allergen information?
No. What you declare about allergens stays the restaurant's responsibility. Menuté shows exactly what you fill in and says plainly where you have not.
